Mercy Hospital offers free PVD screening
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. 09/02/2008--A free peripheral vascular disease screening will be offered Thursday, September 25 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Mercy Hospital, 4050 Coon Rapids Boulevard in Coon Rapids. "People should be screened if they rub their legs to relieve pain or sit down often and put their legs up because it hurts to walk," said Brenda Link, Wellness Program manager. "These symptoms could be a sign of a common blood-flow problem known as peripheral vascular disease, or PVD."
Screening takes about 30 minutes and includes a risk factor questionnaire, an ankle-brachial index measurement, review of results, education and physician referral if necessary. Participants should wear comfortable clothing and footwear that is easily removed. People who take prescribed medications should do so the day of the screening.
For more information or to schedule an appointment for a screening, call 612-262-3333.
